Wyoming Leans on LEO for BEAD Connections

Wyoming was always going to have to rely on satellite/LEOs to connect its BSLs. Arguably underfunded in the first place, Wyoming is spending 57% of its original allotment after applying “BOB” rules to its BEAD grants.

Wyoming broadband czar Chad Bolling tells me that the technology breakout to connect ~24K BSLs will be fiber for 33.14% of BSLs, wireless covering 26.45%, and a whopping 40.42% designated for LEO.

Upstart Amazon Kuiper edged out SpaceX by a factor of 9x.

Let’s keep in mind that many people visit or live in Wyoming to disconnect, so universal coverage is probably not happening any time soon.
